Impactful Relationships
Sometimes you will never know the impact you have on someone until the other side of heaven. As I get ready to go overseas, I have been surprised by the things people have said about who I’ve been in their lives. I am sharing this post, not to brag, but for my personal posterity. For those who read it, I hope it is an encouragement to you to be the best friend you can be and to always show the love of Christ even when you don't necessarily feel that you are being effective.
“In memory of my Best Friend leaving U.S.A. for a while - and I haven’t gotten a chance to say good bye in person - I’m leaving my profile pic as one of my favorite memories of a time we shared as [BCC Chamber Singers]. She helped me find my voice and gave me confidence to stay in a group that I thought didn’t want me. She gave me hope when I thought Christianity and the “church” were non-accepting gay haters. She gave me Love when I thought not even Jesus would, when my relationships failed I KNEW I could cry on her shoulder and vent to her. Here’s to you Elizabeth… someone once said, “Everyone has a story, but whether you’re a big character in his or her story is your choice,” so I THANK you so much for being a leading character in my life story, it’s not good bye (God willing) but a see you later… I will always remember you…unless I get Alzheimer’s and in that case come read to me :)” —Drake
